Join Classics tutor, writer and lecturer, Caroline Mackenzie, for an odyssey around the ancient worlds of Greece and Rome. The Classics Club will meet fortnightly and in each term will examine a different topic from the Classical World.
This term the Classics Club Reading Group is reading Homer’s Iliad in translation. The story of Troy and the Trojan War has been enjoying a real resurgence thanks in part to the British Museum’s recent exhibition Troy: Myth and Reality.
No former knowledge of Homer or Greek mythology is required to join the reading group – just an interest in the Ancient World and its rich quarry of literature, culture and stories. The classes are very relaxed and friendly and you are welcome to come along and try one out!
Dates for forthcoming classes are:
Mondays 9th and 23rd March
Mondays 6th and 20th April
Mondays 4th and 18th May
Mondays 1, 15 and 29 June
Mondays 13th and 27th July
The cost is £12 per session, including tea/coffee and cake.
Please contact Caroline at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a place – no deposit is payable. You are welcome to attend any number of the sessions – there is no obligation to commit to the whole term.
