How are Parish Councillors elected?

Parish Council elections take place every 4 years. The next election will be in held in May 2027.
If there are more councillors being nominated than seats available (ie. more than 13 nominees), an election needs to be held.

In the recent elections, held on 4th May 2023, 6 Councillors were elected. One more was co-opted at the Annual Parish Meeting held on 16th May 2023 and 5 more were co-opted at the Full Council meeting held on 14th November 2023. This leaves one vacancy remaining. If you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor or would like more information, please contact the Clerk on 07375 809 660 or email parishclerk@burwashpc.org.uk.

Co-Opting Councillors

The Council can co-opt councillors to fill vacancies which arise if seats are left vacant following any election or if a councillor resigns during the term of the council – currently four years. Click here to see the full BPC Co-Option policy.
