Burwash and Etchingham Scout Group has gone from strength to strength over the last three years; rebuilding and rejuvenating itself with the introduction of a new Beavers section, new leadership teams in Cubs and now Scouts.
Fund raising has been a crucial part of that success, thanks to the hard work of our executive team, our leaders, children, parents and families as well as the support and goodwill from the wider community.
However, an organisation run by volunteers is only as good as the people who step up to help.
The bulk of our leadership team are parents of children passing through the sections in Scouting, but not all! We understand that modern lives are increasingly busy and pressured, with little time for volunteering.
We understand that, because these are our pressures too. But, giving your time to a community group such as Scouting is a rewarding and enriching experience for the leaders as well as the children. We need new energy, new ideas and enthusiasm.
Volunteer roles should not be seen as a ‘life sentence’, but a chance to participate more fully in to the life of our community, for a defined period, before giving way to new volunteers.
This is the only way that we can hope to build on our success. So, if you have skills, experiences or time that you’d like to share, with the support of a team of others to help you, please do get in touch. We need you!
Current help is needed in our Cubs and Beavers section for Leader roles and a ‘behind the scenes’ clerical role. Please contact burwashetchinghamcubs@gmail.com or Cliff Wilson jaflo@aol.com
